BUILD ON THE ROCK Faith, doubt – and Jesus

This brand new 5-session ecumenical course for discussion groups and individuals is now in stock; ideal for Lent, but suitable for any time of year.

Written by Canon John Young (best-selling author of Hodder’s Christianity – An IntroductionBUILD ON THE ROCK (Matthew 7.24) starts by looking at faith and doubt. Is it wrong – or is it normal and healthy – for a Christian to have doubts? Is there any evidence for a God who loves us? We hear from many witnesses. At the heart of a Christian answer stands Jesus himself. We consider his ‘strange and beautiful story’ and reflect upon his teaching, his death, his resurrection and his continuing significance.

The course materials comprise:

·    a booklet with a wide variety of questions designed to stimulate lively discussion

·     a CD on which the Bishop of London, New Testament Scholar Dr Paula Gooder and Pentecostal minister Revd Joel Edwards explore themes raised by the course booklet, with a thoughtful closing reflection at the end of each session provided by Methodist minister and former Chair of Barnardo’s, Revd David Gamble.

·    a transcript which sets out the words exactly as spoken on the CD
