The Society of Mary and Martha

The Society of Mary and Martha offers specialist support for people in full time ministry.

Paul Arnold, superintendent of the Bridport and Dorchester circuit attended the '12,000 mile service' course as part of his sabbatical with his wife.  Paul writes in his sabbatical report:

The ‘12,000 mile service’ run at the Sheldon Centre (Society of Mary & Martha) is an outstanding opportunity to rest and find healing and balance again.  The Society of M&M has been caring for weary or broken clergy (and spouses) for many years.  The ‘12,000 mile service’ tries to ensure that clergy (and spouses) don’t get to the point of burn out.  There is a programme in place - but everything is optional.  The love, care and practical help offered by members of the community is outstanding.  The week is not cheap, but is (in my opinion) worth every penny.
